Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the relationship between mental health and healthy sleep.

The AASM launched the Sleep Is Good Medicine Campaign because healthy sleep can help with preventing and managing mental health problems.

Additionally, studies also show that sleep deficiency can impact our behavior. If you’re sleep deficient, you may have trouble making decisions, solving problems, controlling your emotions, and coping with change.

Sleep deficiency is also linked to many chronic health problems, including heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression. We hope you will visit SleepEducation.org which offers resources for parents, educators, patients, and students for making sleep healthier.
