AMA Foundation Sleep Medicine Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship
The AASM Foundation partnered with the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation to fund a new scholarship that is being administered by the AMA Foundation’s Physicians of Tomorrow program. A scholarship will be provided to a medical student who is interested in pursuing a career in sleep medicine, maintains academic excellence and demonstrates a financial need.
Sleep Research Program for Advancing Careers
The Sleep Research Program for Advancing Careers aims to increase the number of early-career investigators who successfully apply for and secure external sleep research funding through a structured and mentored grant writing curriculum. At the end of the Sleep Research Program for Advancing Careers, early career investigators will have the skills and resources necessary to successfully apply for a career development grant or equivalent.
Young Investigators Research Forum
This career-building research retreat brings together early career investigators and renowned sleep investigators. The research forum provides guidance, tactics and strategies to better position early career investigators for a successful career in research.
SLEEP Travel Grant for Sleep Technologists and Advanced Practice Providers
The SLEEP Travel Grant for Sleep Technologists and Advanced Practice Providers supports first-time attendance at the SLEEP meeting for non-physician members of the sleep team, such as sleep technologists and advanced practice providers.

The AASM Foundation partnered with the University of Illinois at Chicago, Hispanic Center of Excellence (UIC HCOE) to fund summer research opportunities as part of the Program Advancing Research for Equity.

Trainee Investigator Award
The Trainee Investigator Award recognizes an AASM Student/Resident Member who presents an outstanding research abstract at the SLEEP annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS). This award not only highlights exceptional research but also serves to encourage and nurture the professional growth of early-career investigators in sleep medicine.
