The AASM Foundation recently provided additional relief funds of $5,000 each to sleep centers that are recovering from natural disasters.

EENA Comprehensive Neurology & Sleep Center in Boynton Beach, Florida, continues to rebuild from Hurricane Irma. Initial funds given to EENA in 2017 helped fix in-lab sleep equipment and complete emergency repairs of interior damages to the facility.

“Since impacted by Hurricane Irma, it has been a struggle to stay ‘afloat’ as an independent single provider facility, however the AASM Foundation’s morale and financial assistance make this feasible,” said Dr. Ishag-Osman, medical director of EENA. “We are most grateful for the continued support and we will continue to uphold the high standards awarded to the facility as an accredited center.”

The AASM Foundation also gave $5,000 to American Sleep Centers in Carolina, Puerto Rico, to supplement financial assistance provided to this center in 2018. These additional funds will assist with replacing equipment that was damaged due to Hurricane Maria in 2017.

The AASM Foundation Disaster Relief Fund was established in 2005 through the donations of AASM members, industry and the AASM. These funds are intended to aid sleep centers that have lost their ability to operate and provide patient care due to damages to their facilities in the wake of natural disasters.
