The AASM Foundation is joining the World Sleep Society to celebrate Word Sleep Day with an interactive activity for children and their parents and/or caregivers. This toolkit includes links to free educational resources and two coloring pages for kids to fill in with crayons, markers, or paint. This fun activity allows grownups to review the materials with the child and discuss the importance of regular sleep for a healthy future.
Why is Sleep Important in Children?
Along with nutrition and exercise, healthy sleep is one of the three pillars of a healthy lifestyle. Healthy sleep is especially important to a child’s growth and development. Children who sleep well are healthier and happier. They are also more alert and ready to learn in the classroom.1
Parents and caregivers play an important role in helping young children develop healthy sleep habits that will last a lifetime. With your help, this activity can help children understand that bedtime is the best time of the day.
