November was a big month for the sleep community. We rewound our clocks an hour to “fall back” on Daylight Saving Time, recognized Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, celebrated Thanksgiving and connected the importance of good sleep health to both diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease. Though we had a productive and eventful November, new things are always on the horizon. Here are a few things coming up this December:

International Volunteer Day

International Volunteer Day takes place annually on December 5. This is a day to celebrate the power of our collective humanity to drive positive change through volunteerism. We are extremely grateful for our volunteers and recognize that we could not function without them. Our volunteers contribute to our mission by reviewing competitive applications for our grant programs, cultivating relationships with stakeholders, engaging the sleep community to support our mission and implementing programs to increase the pipeline of sleep researchers. To our loyal volunteers, thank you. To read more about our volunteers or to find out how to get involved, visit our volunteer page: https://foundation.aasm.org/volunteer/

Season Of Giving

Healthier lives through better sleep. That’s what we’ve been advocating for since the AASM Foundation was founded in 1998. Since our founding, we have awarded $23.6 million dollars in funding across 311 grants. Part of what makes this possible is the generous efforts of people like you who believe in and support our mission to promote discoveries that advance the understanding of sleep for healthier lives. Please consider donating today: https://foundation.aasm.org/donate/

Happy Holidays

As joyful as the holiday season can be, we understand that it can also be stressful, which is why it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself and maintain a healthy sleep schedule. We hope your December is filled with good memories, laughter and love. No matter what you celebrate this season, the AASM Foundation would like to send you warm wishes and a very happy holiday.
