The AASM Foundation award has given me the opportunity to explore the mechanisms of the cardiovascular consequences of obstructive sleep apnea. Although the COVID 19 pandemic precluded successful subject recruitment for my study and publications, I have nonetheless gained knowledge on the workings of clinical trials though direct mentorship, coursework though the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and coordination of clinical trials. The AASM foundation has made it possible for me to pursue my passion for research and will continue to guide my trajectory in academic and research medicine.
