Key Project Outcomes
Funded by the AASMF Community Sleep Health and Public Awareness Grant, the project titled “Hope for Sleep Among Uninsured in Southeastern Michigan” funded a novel, free sleep clinic within the established Hope clinic, home to underserved community members in Southeast Michigan.
This project enhanced sleep health among vulnerable adults, both US residents and immigrants, who experience poverty for whom medical care is a luxury. Since its inception in the Fall of 2021, the sleep clinic provided care for over 75 new and returning patients who were evaluated, diagnosed and treated from obstructive sleep apnea with new home sleep apnea tests and positive airway pressure devices, purchased through the grant funds. These patients experienced improved health and enhanced quality of life.
