Stephen H. Sheldon, DO

Dr. Sheldon is Professor of Pediatrics & Neurology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is former Director of the Sleep Medicine Center of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He has been active in the clinical practice of pediatric sleep medicine and has an intense involvement in pediatric sleep medical education and research. His research has focused on childhood sleepiness and narcolepsy, parasomnias, and pediatric sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Sheldon joined the AASM Foundation Board of Directors in June 2022. He most recently served as Chair of the AASM Foundation Development Council. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for JCSM, and previously has served on the AASM Board of Directors from 2000-2006, including as Secretary/Treasurer from 2003-2006. Dr. Sheldon also served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry, Board of Directors of the National Sleep Foundation, and is active in the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Sheldon was appointed to the American Board of Pediatrics in 2005 as a representative to the ABMS Sleep Medicine Policy and Examination Committee. Dr. Sheldon is the author/editor of Allergy and Sleep (Springer 2019) and is Senior Editor of Principles and Practice of Pediatric Sleep Medicine, 1st and 2nd Editions (Elsevier-WB Saunders, 2005).
