Dr. Martin is a clinical psychologist and professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She also is associate director for clinical and health services research in the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System’s Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center. Dr. Martin’s scientific research program focuses on improving sleep as a key component of maintaining and improving physical and mental health, particularly among women and older adults with sleep disorders. She is a nationally-known expert in insomnia disorder and is the Subject Matter Expert for the VA’s program to disseminate cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia.
Dr. Martin has served on the AASM Foundation Board of Directors since June 2015, including being President of the AASM Foundation from June 2016-June 2019. She also currently serves on the AASM Board of Directors as the Immediate Past President.
