James A. Rowley, MD

Dr. James A. Rowley received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals and a fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, where he developed his interest in sleep medicine. Dr. Rowley is presently Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Division Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Program Director of the pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the Detroit Medical Center, Medical Director of the Detroit Receiving Hospital Sleep Disorders Center and Chair of the DMC Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Rowley has served on the AASM Foundation Board of Directors since June 2016, including as AASM Foundation President from 2019-2020 and Secretary/Treasurer from 2021-2022. He also currently serves on the AASM Board of Directors and the AASM Guidelines Advisory Panel, and previously served the AASM in several roles including as a member of the Guidelines Advisory Panel and Standards of Practice Committee, Chair of the Education Committee, and Vice Chair of the Accreditation Committee.
