
David Bishop, LCSW
David Bishop is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Founder/CEO of the Sleep Equity Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. He also serves as a board member of the NIH Sleep Disorders Research Advisory Board.
Before founding the Sleep Equity Project, David worked for several years in patient advocacy. He is the former Chair of the Advocacy Committee and former Chairman of the Board of the Alliance of Healthy Sleep, and he previously served as Vice President of the Alliance of Sleep Apnea Partners.
David’s work focuses on sleep disorders, related chronic health conditions, and the impact of social determinants of health. He is also interested in advancing public engagement in sleep health education.
He has served as a PCORI stakeholder on multiple studies and as a reviewer for PCORI programs, including Broad Program and Phased Large Award Comparative Effectiveness Research.
David has also served on several committees for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the AASM Foundation, including the Public Awareness Advisory Committee, Hypopnea Scoring Committee, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. In addition, he served as both a committee member and Chair of the AASM Foundation Community Sleep Health and Public Awareness Grant Committee.
